Ron Cousineau

Ron Cousineau

Bass, Backup Vocals

Ron is a 3rd generation professional musician, following his mother and grandfather. He started playing drums at the age of four and was playing on stage by the time he was twelve. Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit and listening to the musical influence of Detroit’s rock and roll, and Motown, it’s plain to see how Ron developed his ear for soul and rock blending.

By the time he was in middle school he was lead singing, and playing drums after the influences of his sister’s favorite band, Rare Earth. By the time he was in 11th grade, he had taught himself to play the piano, guitar and bass. At that point, there was a surplus of drummers, and a bass player drought, so he switched to the bass guitar and vocal position; he never regretted the choice. Soon after graduation he was asked to play bass for a Michigan based club act. With one week’s notice he learned about 40 new songs and hit the club circuit playing everywhere from Sault St Marie to Cocoa beach Florida. The list is very long of clubs, shows, bands and national recording acts Ron has performed with during his musical career. His current Rare Earth bandmates, Ron Christian (known as K.C.) and Dan Medawar have had a history together since forming their first band, Gunner, in the early 80s. Ron is also a songwriter, lyricist and has achieved a great deal of success in design, promotion, and is noted for film soundtrack writing and production.
